High milage oils

by mateotech on Nov 18 2018, 4:54 PM

I have 250000 mile on my 03 Tacoma. I have recently started using a high mileage oil in the motor and now my valve cover gasket is leaking. It may just be about that time to replace the gasket again, or can it be the different oil in the motor. Any opinions on oils?

Normally, a "high milage" oil will help to slow minor leaks. They normally have additives in it that swell seals to slow leaks and make them more pliable, as well as detergents, conditioners, and they don't break down as fast as a conventional oil. They are supposed to stay thicker longer to protect the engine against extra wear.
